How far along? 39 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +24.2
Symptoms? Cramping, Braxton Hicks, lightning crotch, indigestion, back aches, and fatigue.
Sleep: Sleeping good! Making it through the night with only 1 trip to the bathroom!
Best moment this week: Phones off Saturday! Andrew and I decided for our last weekend without baby and company, we would have a “phones off” day, where it would just be us two, no distractions from the outside world. No computers, no working, no phones! It was great to relax, watch movies, play video games (yes! we busted out the old super nintendo and N64!), and enjoy some time together.
Miss Anything? The ability to be comfortable. There is just no comfortable position to be in anymore……
Movement: Lots of squirming! She says, “GET ME OUTTA HERE!”
Food cravings: EL PORTON!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just nausea at night occasionally.
Labor Signs: Cramping and I THINK I felt my first contraction yesterday! Since my appointment last week, I was still not dilated much. 25% effaced and -3 station! Baby girl is locked and loaded! Will find out more tomorrow at my 39 week appointment!
Belly Button in or out? Flat!
Wedding rings on or off? Off.
Mood: Anxious and excited!
Weekly Wisdom: Take it easy and let people help you, even if it makes you feel uncomfortable. Things will eventually get done in time, but it is important to stay well rested and healthy for when baby gets here!
Looking forward to: 39 week appointment tomorrow and a 3 day weekend! Maybe little girl will come on Labor Day! How appropriate.

How far along? 38 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +25.8
Symptoms? Cramping pretty often, clumsiness, back aches, occasional headaches and nausea (mainly at night)
Sleep: Sleeping much better, just having a hard time actually falling asleep. A lot on my mind I suppose haha!
Best moment this week: Baby shower Fiesta! It was so good to see so many friends and family, both from in and out of town! And a huge thank you to my kick-ass friends Kathryn, Becky, and Annie for throwing such a great shower!
Miss Anything? I’ve decided my first post pregnancy meal MUST be sushi! Yes….spicy tuna roll with wasabi! YUM!
Movement: Well, after I thought the movement was slowing down, she is back again, kicking full force! She wants out!
Food cravings: Last night, Drew went out at 11:30 to get me Taco Bell! Yes 4th meal!! Have I ever mentioned how great my husband is to me?
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just feeling a bit nauseous at night on occasion.
Labor Signs: Cramping and lightening crotch (there must be a better term for this?). Drew and I went to my 37 week appointment last Friday, where my doctor checked my progression. Starting to thin out and about a fingertip dilated! At first, she wasn’t really sure as to what position she was in, so we got to have a short ultrasound just to check the position! Baby girl is head down, but just had not dropped far enough yet for the doctor to feel! Could have fooled me. I feel like her head couldn’t get any lower!
Belly Button in or out? Flat!
Wedding rings on or off? Off.
Mood: Anxious and excited! Could be any day now!
Weekly Wisdom: Towards the end, you just have to take it one day at a time. There will be good days and there will be days that are much harder. Surprisingly, I have MUCH more good days than bad, so I’m thankful for that!
Looking forward to: 38 week appointment tomorrow AND the Madam will officially be here on her extended vacation on Sunday morning!
How far along? 37 Weeks – FULL TERM!
Total weight gain/loss: +23.4
Symptoms? Lower back aches, clumsiness (yes, I will just randomly walk into a door frame and miss the opening completely), some cramping, and GAS! (attractive, I know!)
Sleep: sleeping pretty great actually!
Best moment this week: Watching DCI Finals with some great friends! We had a TON of laughs and lots of eating and drinking (sprite for me!)
Miss Anything? All of the fall stuff coming out and the announcements of all the Oktoberfest beers has me VERY excited about having a nice refreshing beverage very soon!
Movement: Still moving, but getting slower! I’m guessing there is not much room in there anymore and she just has enough room to adjust. But I can definitely feel those fingers and toes!
Food cravings: Hungry all of the time AND I’m able to eat more for some reason. Craving anything cheesy and salty, and of course, sweets!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!
Labor Signs: Cramping here and there and LIGHTNING CROTCH! Ouch! I can definitely tell baby is sitting very low with her head settling into position, ready for GO TIME!
Belly Button in or out? Flat! I don’t think there is even enough extra skin for anything to POP out.
Wedding rings on or off? Off. Not taking any chances!
Mood: Anxious and excited! Ready to meet our daughter in person and see what she looks like! Whose nose does she have? Whose mouth? What’s her personality like?
Weekly Wisdom: Read mom blogs! At the beginning, I had planned on going out and buying all of these books on raising children, breastfeeding, etc. But through the months, I’ve been reading all of these different blogs by real moms and they are just so great to get all the differing opinions on certain things. They are easy to read, funny, and smart! No big vocabulary and you get a close look into REAL situations that happen every day……..
Looking forward to: 37 week appointment tomorrow AND our baby shower this weekend! Because the summer has been so hectic with people getting married, teaching, marching, etc, we decided to push back having our shower until after the summer “season” was over. Our friends Annie, Kathryn, and Becky are putting everything together and we could not be more thankful for such AWESOME friends. It will also be a great time for everyone to see each other before all of our schedules get crazy again during fall.
Being that it is getting closer to the big day, I figured I might as well go ahead and share my 3rd Trimester personal must-haves and things that just made things a bit easier during the last (OMG!) trimester.
1. Tums – Definitely a lifesaver when it comes to any type of acid reflux/heartburn. I never really get it at any certain time or after I eat a certain food….It just decides to come and go. Nothing major.
2. Granola and Yogurt – My weekly breakfast of choice! So good for you, light, filling, and packed with extra nutrients and PROTEIN for little girl!
3. Baby Buzz App – Pretty much exactly the same as the Pregnancy Buzz app, but for growing babies. Real moms, with real questions, and real answers from women who have been there and done that!
4. Fans – Luckily this summer in Atlanta has been a cool one! Rarely getting above 90, and having a lot of rain has definitely kept the temperatures cooler. On those hot, humid nights, fans can be a huge help with getting cooled off and gives your A/C a break!
5. Maxi dresses – I have never owned a maxi dress until I got pregnant. My FAVORITE thing to wear! So comfortable and nothing is squeezing or poking you.
6. Comfortable shoes/sandals – Depending on if you are pregnant in the summer or winter, having a comfortable pair of shoes in the third trimester is a MUST! My mom had these Tevas with really squishy soles that she let me borrow and have been great for my swollen feet!
7. Berries – Blueberries, Strawberries, Blackberries, and Raspberries have been a go-to snack! A lot of the time I’ll put them in my granola and yogurt in the mornings! Yummo!
8. Moms on Call – I have not ready
many any books and have been randomly reading online articles and blogs to become familiar with different things as my pregnancy has come along. Drew and I received this book from one of his co-workers at a shower and I absolutely LOVE it! It is written by two moms in the Atlanta area, each with 3-4 kids, and it basically goes through from birth to toddler stage and lists everything you needs to know from sleeping schedules, feeding schedules, safety, naptime, etc. No big words or scary scenarios. Really basic and really informative. It also came with a lovely swaddling blanket for baby!
9. Sports bras – Once my belly started to get REALLY big (about week 30), my underwire bras became SO uncomfortable. The wires would just sit and dig in right on top of my belly, mainly while I was sitting at work. As most of you know, my boobs definitely need that support, so I decided to switch over to sports bras. It still gives them support without that awful underwire. I guess I’ll just be sporting a uni-boob from now until I go back to work!
10. Chocolate Chip Pancakes – I’ve made these NUMEROUS times on the weekend! What is a better solution for someone with a sweet tooth and a craving for pancakes! Put some chocolate on it! (or in it!)
How far along? 36 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +23
Symptoms? Back aches, sciatic nerve pain (if I’ve been sitting for awhile), minor acid reflux on occasion, cramps, swollen feet
Sleep: Getting tougher to actually fall asleep, but I sleep pretty well once I’m out! My mind is in so many places, that may be why I am having trouble getting to sleep.
Best moment this week: Lots of great moments this week! On Saturday, Drew’s co-workers threw him a man-shower, which was great, because I had not met some of them yet! And little girl received her very first piece of Kentucky gear! Wednesday night, we got to see our very good friends, Brian and Jenni, before they move to Philadelphia in a week. Some great opportunities for them, and although lots of change, lots of GOOD change! We will certainly miss them a ton!
Miss Anything? My old clothes. I am to the point where even some of my maternity clothing is getting too small. (lots of under-belly showing in a lot of my tops!) I keep finding myself on Drew’s side of the closet, looking for things I could “make work” for the next 3-4 weeks. I guess I’ve just accepted that I’ll now be living in leggings, maxi dresses, and very LARGE t-shirts until go-time!
Movement: Tons of movement! Starting to really feel fingers, toes, elbows, and that head of hers resting right on my bladder! Agh!
Food cravings: Just hungry a lot! Still trying to be conscious of how much I’m eating, because I really do feel like I could eat a house sometimes.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not this week!
Gender prediction: Bows! I think we can safely say we can take this one off the list!
Labor Signs: A little crampy sometimes, and what I think are Braxton Hicks contractions! Kind of feels like your stomach gets really tight and hard all of a sudden. It doesn’t really hurt, just becomes uncomfortable.
Belly Button in or out? Still flat as a pancake!
Wedding rings on or off? Off……sometimes I will look down and think I have lost it somewhere. Can’t wait to put them back on!
Mood: Anxious! Things are finally all coming together and I finally feel as prepared as I can be! At first, I was really dreading and almost scared to give birth, but now I’m feeling ready and excited! I think being pregnant for 9 months is the perfect amount of time to go through the initial shock, the planning, the prepping, and just getting your mind right, so when it is time, you are ready to go!
Weekly Wisdom: Women’s bodies are really amazing……how within 9 months, you go from having this tiny “seed”, to growing an 8 pound human being! Yes, your body changes, some for the good, some for the bad. But at the end of all of it, you have a baby! A baby YOUR body held and grew for 9 months! It really is amazing to think that one day, we will be doing our regular routine and then within the next, we will be holding our new baby girl….something that took 9 months to make, and only 1 day to bring into the world!
Looking forward to: Our 36 week appointment tomorrow. Will be doing my Strep B test and will hopefully be checked to see how I’m progressing! We have a check-up every week from here on out! We will also be preparing our hospital bag this weekend along with any last minute house projects we need to get done. It’s on!!
How far along? 35 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +22
Symptoms? Back aches, pinches and jabs, gas! and SWOLLEN FEET! My feet are officially blowing up like balloons. I am very thankful for being able to live in sandals for the next 5 weeks!
Sleep: Sleeping well as long as I can get comfortable. I’m always worried with all the flip flopping I do in the night, that I am going to flip baby head up!
Best moment this week: Being back at home in Memphis to visit with family and celebrate Elizabeth and Dan’s wedding! Although Memphis is a hole, I always enjoy going back and seeing so many friends and family.
Miss Anything? Just feeling myself again. Although my symptoms aren’t too terrible and I’ve had it pretty easy this whole pregnancy, I am ready to to not feel like my stomach is taking over my whole body!
Movement: All over the place! She likes to sit right under my ribs….waiting for the big drop!
Food cravings: Nothing in particular. Just being hungry all of the time. Which then makes me eat like I’ve been starving myself the last 9 months. And then I feel like a bloated cow. Ugh.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not this week!
Gender prediction: Bows!
Labor Signs: No thank you! Sometimes I get crampy, but no signs of contractions.
Belly Button in or out? Big and flat. I don’t see it popping out at all.
Wedding rings on or off? Off. And if my hands react anything like my feet have been, they will be off until after little girl is born.
Mood: Just trying to stay happy and not let little things take away from one of the most special times in our lives. With as much stress and things to do, I always have to remind myself to relax and enjoy the time now.
Weekly Wisdom: “Enjoy the little things in life, for some day you will look back and realize they were the BIG things.” -Robert Brault
Looking forward to: Our first shower this weekend! Really, it is a small MANshower that Drew’s co-workers are throwing for him. AND, just looking forward to being one week closer to meeting our sweet girl!
